Junji Ito (伊藤 潤二) is the Japanese horror manga artist who had a notable works, they are namely Tomie, Uzumaki and Gyo.
He first began writing and drawing manga as a hobby, he was inspired from a young age by one of his two older sisters' drawing and the comics of Kazuo Umezu. He thus took an interest in drawing horror comics himself.
In addition of Kazuo Umezu, Junji Ito (伊藤潤二) has citied Hideshi Hino, Shinichi Koga, Yasutaka Tsutsui and H.P. Lovecraft as well as being major influences on his own work.
